A fancy word for something very natural
Biofeedback itself is nothing new. It has been practiced in doctor's offices and with therapists for many years. The effect of biofeedback is well documented for stress. What is new is that you can now do it yourself, in your own home.

The body's own language
In short, biofeedback is about responding to the body's natural signals. When you are stressed, the body emits various signals that modern technology can measure and interpret. There are several such signals, including the temperature in your fingertip, pulse variation, and tension in your neck muscles.

To calm the autonomic nervous system
A biofeedback session is about responding to stress signals in a way that relieves and calms the autonomic nervous system. The most common are breathing exercises and relaxation techniques, which are performed while simultaneously seeing the body's response in real time (hence feedback). It is a way of saying to our body, in a language that the nervous system understands, that "just relax, everything is safe."
