Migraine and the nervous system

Although researchers do not have a definitive answer as to why people get migraines, we know that the nervous system and the stresses it encounters can be an important factor. If you suspect that stress is one of the factors that triggers your migraines, you should read on.

Migraine is a fairly common neurological disorder. According to Helsenorge, as many as 1 in 5 will experience migraines during their lifetime.

For those who are frequently and severely affected, migraines can affect both the quality of life and hinder you in everyday life.

At its worst, the symptoms can be so unpleasant that you simply become quite desperate for a solution that actually helps, relieves, and prevents.

Career woman with stress-induced migraine

The founder of Cenli, Cathrine Ro Heuch, had struggled with migraines since childhood.

Because migraine triggers can vary from person to person, it took a long time before she figured out what triggered her migraines. It was only when she became an adult that it became clear that stress and poor sleep quality were the two major culprits.

After completing her master's degree in chemistry, she was introduced to a research project that would not only help her but would also be the start of Cenli's vision to help more people with stress relief.

Well-proven method in a new design

The research project that sparked Cathrine's interest aimed to treat children struggling with migraines using the well-documented method of biofeedback.

Despite research having long demonstrated its effectiveness against both stress and migraines, biofeedback was only available in doctor's offices with expensive equipment.

But with Cenli on the scene, this is no longer the case. Cenli makes it possible to use the biofeedback method for stress relief in your own home, with just a small biofeedback kit.

Curious about what a modern biofeedback kit looks like? This is Cenli!

Stress and migraines

Understanding how our nervous system works is important to understanding how stress can truly manifest in the body and lead to various stress-related ailments, such as headaches and migraines.

In our article about stress, you can read more about the nervous system's two settings: Fight and flight and Rest and digest, and how biofeedback can help you achieve a more balanced nervous system.

Stress relief comes in many forms

So what exactly distinguishes biofeedback from other stress relief techniques?

Relaxation techniques, meditation, mindfulness, and other forms of methods and tools can all help with stress.

The major difference is that biofeedback actually has documented effects, after decades of research.
